Primary Care
A wide variety of services to support student health and well-being are available at the Health Center. To learn more about our medical staff, please see our list of Providers.
General Health Care
Our providers are trained to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions, including skin conditions, cold and flu, infections, depression, injuries, and more. They can also assist with the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, Crohn’s disease, and more. A few of our providers have special interests in unique areas of medicine, see our Provider Bios to learn more about our provider staff.
Radiology
Students have the convenience of having their x-rays taken here at the Health Center. Because we use the latest all-digital technology, most x-rays have an initial-read 20-minute turnaround time, so students rarely have to come back or wait for a phone call to be diagnosed. All x-rays are sent to a consultant radiologist for confirmation of diagnoses. Fees vary based on x-rays performed.
Lab
For a quick diagnosis, we can process limited labs in-house via our own Physician Office Laboratory. We also send specimens to outside labs as specified by your insurance plan. Lab orders from outside physician offices can not be accepted directly and will require patients to schedule with one of our providers to review the orders before transferring to our facility. For patients without insurance, we offer affordable prices on our lab services.
Gynecological Care
UCF Gynecological Services provides preventive and acute gynecological care by certified Nurse Practitioners. The student health fee covers most gynecological services. There are additional charges for lab tests, procedures, and treatments. A student’s individual health insurance plan may cover most of the additional charges.
We provide a wide array of services, including routine gynecologic exams, contraceptive counseling, testing for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy testing and counseling, lifestyle education and counseling, and management of certain gynecologic conditions.
Victim Services
UCF Victims Services has offices within the ORANGE POD of the Student Health Center. Their advocates offer CONFIDENTIAL support, crisis intervention, reporting and disclosure options, safety planning, information and referrals, practical assistance, and educational programs. Our clients are informed of all their reporting and disclosure options and we empower them to make the best decision for themselves. We encourage reporting to the police, but we always support the choice of our clients.
UCF Victim Services provides confidential advocacy and support to the UCF Community, 24/7.
If you or someone you know has been impacted by crime, violence, or abuse, we can help, call a confidential victim advocate at (407) 823-1200 or text (407)823-6868. Don’t wait; the timing for obtaining needed care is critical and Victim Services should be contacted within 72 hours of the incident.
In case of an emergency call 911 immediately.
Immunizations
We offer a wide variety of immunizations for your optimum health. This includes MMR, Hepatitis B, Meningitis, HPV, T-dap, TB/PPD tests, and more. Most vaccines are covered by your health insurance. For those paying out-of-pocket, our prices are often less than local Health Department prices. We also offer Free HPV/Gardasil vaccines for qualifying students ages 18 and up.
Flu Shots
Each fall, Student Health Services offers students, faculty and staff flu shots. Visit our homepage at that time or call the Health Center for information on availabilty and access.
Sexual Health
We provide a variety of sexual health services including STD testing, well-woman exams, safer-sex counseling and more. Also, see our Calendar of Events for screening events and educational programs.
Stress Management
Our providers can assist you in dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, sleep issues and more. We can also refer you to biofeedback on-campus which will assist you in identifying stressors so that you can manage them.
Interpretation Services
For patients who are more comfortable communicating in their primary language, interpretation services are available, through either bi-lingual staff members, or by use of a telephone medical translation service.
Sharps Disposal
We will provide students with a small sharps container and swap it out for a new container when you turn in a full one for safe disposal. Ask a nurse facilitator for assistance.
