My family has struggled with addiction for as long as I can remember. Sobriety was never an achievable goal in our household and, until I was introduced to the CRC, I never knew what it even looked like. Through my involvement with Sober Knights, I learned to have compassion for those I previously only had contempt for.  My anger turned to understanding and I was able to help those I deemed as lost. If there’s anything I’ve learned from the CRC it’s that you can’t blame addiction on a character flaw in an individual. Addiction is not a choice, but sobriety is. It is a difficult choice yet very powerful, not only for yourself but for those that love you. That is why the individuals I’ve met in the CRC and Sober Knights are the strongest people I know and I am a better person for having known them.
