Work at UCF Student Health Services


UCF Student Health Services is currently hiring federal work study employees for our business office, insurance, marketing, health infomormation management, cashier, and information technology areas!

We are specifically looking for:

  • Students eligible for federal work study who are available to start ASAP
  • Able to work 20-25 hours per week comprising of 4-5 hour shifts per day

To fill these roles, we will be hosting a Hiring Event with on-site interviews in Conference Room B (Rm 313) of the health center on Tuesday, Sep 12 from 9am – 1pm and Wednesday, Sep 13 from 1pm – 4pm. You can find directions to our building here.

Business Office

Positions within our business office, including front desk receptionists and insurance representatives, are for those who are interested in learning what goes on behind the scenes of a healthcare organization and how to navigate the ins and outs of the medical billing process. Employees in these positions will gain hands-on experience and knowledge that they can utilize in their own lives and will prepare them for future jobs.

Employees in specialized business roles will work one-on-one with our student population and patients to provide insurance and eligibility benefits, use their analytical skills to work with accounts receivable and patient receivables to bring in revenue for the health center, and know how to ask the right questions and get the right answers with patients’ insurance companies.

Marketing

This position serves as a Marketing Assistant within the Marketing unit within Student Health Services. This position requires the ability to manage many projects at the same time, strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and excellent communication skills and personable/outgoing personality.

  • Attend events (both Student Health Services events, and by partners) to represent Student Health Services, both on and off campus.
  • Assist the Marketing team with projects and initiatives identified for the Marketing Department.
  • Conduct research as needed for projects, goals, and initiatives.
  • Assist UCF Student Health Services administration department with clerical duties, when needed.
  • Assist with maintenance of the social media accounts to be a timely representation of Student Health Services.
  • Occasional Weekend and evening hours.

Health Information Management

As a Medical Secretary I, you will:

  • Receive incoming calls to schedule/ reschedule appointments with appropriate providers.
  • Ensure accuracy of account information in electronic health record (EHR).
  • Refer urgent care patients to the Nurse Facilitator for immediate medical care.
  • Disseminate (HIPAA compliant) information as needed.
  • Interpret policies and procedures as required.
  • Check in patients with scheduled appointments.
  • Verify each patient’s eligibility to receive services.
  • Verify patient’s in-network health insurance.
  • Assist Nurse Facilitator with patients arriving after their scheduled appointment time.
  • Advocate for the patient
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pharmacy

Our cashiers are responsible for payment transactions including cash handling at patient check-out, providing excellent customer service, assist with stocking and inventory of Pharmacy Convenience Store.

  • Assist patients with check-out and collect payment for the medical services including any pharmacy or OTC charges
  • Answer phones and process phone payments
  • Assist with stocking shelves, cleaning shelves, and counting inventory
  • Answer patient account inquires and assist with account reconciliation
  • Balancing payment transactions for deposit
  • All other duties as assigned by Retail Manager or designee

Information Technology

As an IT Specialist, you will perform assigned duties in the EHR as directed by the EHR consultant, including:

  • Troubleshoot problems with Student Health Center networks and peripherals, to include hardware and software.
  • Provide customer service to end users.  Must be able to communicate effectively and accurately via written and verbal communication skills.
  • Records and maintain inventory and Surplus of equipment and supplies used.
  • Serve as initial technical contact and resource assist users in problem identification and resolution for computer hardware and software interrelationships and dependencies; implement solutions and/or notifies outsources repairs/provision as required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.  Ability to lift 20 pounds. Frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning), biohazardous body fluids, and chemicals.
